PARENT/CHILD AQUATICS (Session B ONLY)
An adult or older sibling must be in the water with child.
Builds swimming readiness by emphasizing fun in the water until parental assistance is not needed for water entry, bubble blowing, front kicking, back floating and underwater exploration.
LEVEL 1: Introduction to Water Skills
The objectives are to help swimmers feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy water safely.
LEVEL 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Swimmers learn to float without support and to recover to a vertical position.
LEVEL 3: Stroke Development
Swimmers learn to survival float, swim the front crawl and elementary backstroke. The scissors kick is introduced and we build on the fundamentals of treading water. We learn to enter the water headfirst.
LEVEL 4: Stroke Improvement
Swimmers improve their skills and increase their endurance by swimming familiar strokes (front crawl & elementary backstroke) for greater distances. We add the arms to the scissors kick for the sidestroke. We learn the back crawl and breaststroke.
LEVEL 5: Stroke Refinement
The objectives are coordination and refinement of strokes. Swimmers refine their performance of all the strokes and increase their distances.
LEVEL 6: Swimming and Skill Proficiency
The objectives are to refine strokes so swimmers perform them with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness and over greater distances.
